  • hen houseOur Hen House produces resources that you can use in order to find your own way to create change for animals. Using video, audio, interviews, reviews, and the written word, it provides daily updates on what you need to create change. Change makers come in all shapes and sizes –- artists, grassroots activists, academics, lawyers, students, business moguls, media darlings, etc. No matter what your niche is, Our Hen House aims to give you what you need to be part of a new world for animals. Jasmin Singer is the Executive Director and co-founder of Our Hen House. She was previously the campaigns manager for Farm Sanctuary, and is a contributing writer for VegNews Magazine. Mariann Sullivan is the Program Director and co-founder of Our Hen House . She is a lawyer and adjunct professor of animal law at Brooklyn Law School and Cardozo Law School, the current chair of the American Bar Association’s TIPS Animal Law Committee, and the former chair of the Legal Issues Pertaining to Animals of the NYC Bar Association.
  • robert_cheekeRobert Cheeke works full-time for Sequel Naturals as a National representative for Vega, a line of vegan whole-food products, and also works full-time running Vegan Body Building and Fitness. . . As a touring speaker, the Presentation Robert gives across North America is titled, “Thrive on a Plant-Based Diet – Whole-Food Nourishment for Whole-Body Health” as part of Robert Cheeke’s “Take Action and Make it Happen Tour.”
  • John PippinJohn J. Pippin, M.D., F.A.C.C., is a senior medical and research adviser for the Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine (PCRM), a nationwide organization of physicians and laypersons that promotes preventive medicine, especially good nutrition, and addresses controversies in modern medicine, including ethical and scien tific issues in education and research. Dr. Pippin works to promote alternatives to the use of animals in medical and drug research. Dr. Pippin also works on PCRM’s campaigns to replace medical school animal labs, to end the March of Dimes’ support of animal research, and many other projects. He contributes research and articles for Good Medicine and serves as a media spokesperson for many of PCRM’s efforts.
  • Vesanto Melina, RD, MSVesanto Melina MS, RD – specializes in vegetarian, vegan, and raw nutrition, and healthful eating. Her books are nutrition classics for those who are near-vegetarian, vegetarian, vegan, and raw foods enthusiasts, and are widely recommended by physicians, dietitians, and other health professionals. Books include Becoming Raw, Raw Food Revolution Diet, Food Allergy Survival Guide, Raising Vegetarian Children, Becoming Vegan, and Becoming Vegetarian.
  • Alan RoettingerAlan Roettinger has been a private chef for over 28 years. He has cooked in private homes, catered parties and provided specialty desserts for a broad spectrum of high profile clients, from entertainers to presidents. A world traveler, he absorbed elements from many cuisines to synthesize a unique creative style of his own. He is the author of Speed Vegan and Omega 3 Cuisine

With influences from Waylon, Willie, and Cash to Neil Young, the Band, and the Grateful Dead, Country Fried’s multiple song writers have written a wide range of music. Starting in small bars in New Orleans, Country Fried won critics and fans over with tight harmonies and great originals.
  • Eudora and Deep Soul R&B, SOUL, BLUES, JAZZ, ETC., all sung by the incomparable Eudora Evans and backed by an all-star band.
  • Camerian Face PaintingPrincess Camerian is the local Faerie Princess, and expresses her magic through the visual arts.  Face Painting is among her many specialties.  She has been a participant and supporter of the veg lifestyle for almost 11 years.
  • Pandorium Belly Dance CompanyPandorium Belly Dance Troupe performs around the Southeastern Lousiana region and has been featured at the Louisiana Renaissance Festival and various St. Tammany Art Association events.
  • Sweet Jones embodies the unified musical collaboration of Matthew and Melissa DeOrazio (guitar/vocals). Featuring original compositions, as well as creative interpretations of other artists’ songs, the genre ranges from electric blues, roots, rock and Americana. They perform as a duo, and as a trio/quartet, adding bass and drums depending on the venue/occasion. Sweet Jones performs regularly in New Orleans, and has toured various cities, including NYC, Chicago, Austin, Baltimore, DC, Pensacola, and Gulfport.
  • John Osbourne began his studies in Iridology around 2005 and got certified by the International Iridology Association around 2008 under Betty Sue O’Brian, N.D.  He has had the pleasure of helping people improve their health by being proactive using natural remedies. He will also be demonstrating the Chi Machine
  • Massage Alliance – a network of Masasge Therapists working in the Greater New Orleans area. Our team of experienced Massage Therapists work tirelessly promoting health; addressing pain, stiffness, sore muscles, and facilitating whole-body healing.
  • Jessica Blanchard; Balance Yoga & WellnessJessica Blanchard from Balance Yoga & Wellness is our local food, nutrition and health expert.  Along with co-owning and teaching at Balance Yoga & Wellness, she is a certified Ayurvedic Practitioner and is training to become a Registered Dietitian.    Jessica has a passion for whole, fresh vegetarian food and for making this lifestyle available to all.  She has lived in Thailand, India and France where she learned many delicious recipes straight from the source.  She will be at a wellness table at NOLA Veggiefest.
